When Tom started making candles at home in South Yorkshire back in 2017, doing things the right way was always part of the plan — not just for the candles, but for the planet too. As Just Wicks has grown into a full-time, handmade business, we've kept sustainability at the heart of what we do. It's not always the easiest path, but it's the one we're proud to walk.

Here's a look at what we're doing — and why it matters to us.

🌱 Our Products

Eco-Friendly Soy Wax

All of our candles are made with 100% natural soy wax — non-GMO, vegan, and never tested on animals. Soy wax burns cleaner and longer than paraffin, and it's a renewable resource. It's a win for your home and for the environment.

Vegan-Friendly Throughout

Every product we make is vegan-friendly. No animal by-products, no animal testing — just clean, consciously crafted goods.

Reusable Candle Containers

Once your candle has burned down, the container doesn't have to go in the bin. Our vessels are designed to be reused — as a plant pot, a pen holder, a trinket dish... the possibilities are yours to explore.

♻️ Our Refill Programme

One of the things we're most proud of is our refill programme. Rather than buying new every time, you can bring back (or send back) your empties and we'll refill them for you. It's better for the planet, and better for your wallet.

Refills are currently available for:

• Home Cologne

It's a small change that makes a real difference — less plastic, less waste, less impact.

🕯️ Imperfect Melts — Zero Waste Wax

In candle-making, not every batch comes out looking perfect. Rather than throwing away wax that doesn't quite meet our visual standards, we turn it into our Imperfect Melts range. They smell just as incredible, they work just as well — they just might have a little character about them.

It means zero wax goes to waste. Every last drop gets used. We think that's something worth celebrating.

📦 Our Packaging

Biodegradable Packing Peanuts

Those little packing peanuts you find in your Just Wicks order? They're made from potato starch. That's right — you can dissolve them in hot water and they'll disappear completely. No landfill, no guilt.

Reused Boxes & Bubble Wrap

We save and reuse boxes and bubble wrap wherever we can. If your order arrives in a box that looks like it's been on a journey before — it probably has. We think that's a good thing.

Paper Bags

We've switched to paper bags across our packaging and collections, replacing single-use plastic alternatives. Our carpet fresheners now come in paper bags too.

🔄 Recycling & Reuse

We actively recycle and reuse materials throughout our workshop in South Yorkshire. From packaging materials coming in to the boxes going out, we try to give everything a second life before it ever reaches a bin.

We're Not Perfect — But We're Trying

We'll be honest with you: we're a small, growing business and we don't have everything figured out yet. But sustainability isn't a destination — it's a direction. Every decision we make, we ask ourselves whether there's a kinder option. Sometimes there is. Sometimes we're still working on it.
